Round 6 - Te Kuiti

Round 6 was held on Sunday 28th February in Te Kuiti. We had 23 riders which meant no semi-final but this wasn’t a bad thing as it was pretty hot and one more lap may have been too much for some. We had a rider return who hasn’t competed in the class since last years series so we have now had 48 different riders take part in the series.

I would like to thank the Te Kuiti club for running the event and a big Thankyou to Richard Scott from “Otorohanga Computer Services” for putting up a healthy purse.

We had another consolation final this round and yes believe it or not Jason “Queen B” Powrie has regained his title.
Podium finishers were exactly the same as Round 5 with 1st place going to Richie McLachlan, 2nd Steve Schimanski & 3rd Paul Luttrell. That makes 3 wins to Steve & 3 to Richie, only one round to go, who will come out with the most round wins or will there be someone new to spoil their party.

On a side note, for those that don’t hang their bikes up straight after the Nationals, New Plymouth are holding the final round of the New Zealand Superclass series on 24th April and they have told me that they are going to have a 30+ Cruiser class with some serious money plus payback so pencil it in to your calendars for a trip south.

Check below to see where you sit after the 6th round. There’s been a slight shuffle around at the top of the table with one dropping out of the 8 (it was fun while it lasted !) and being replaced by another who has returned from his holiday to get back into the money.

There has been no change to the teams table with the JAFA’s just holding on to their lead. Will they be there at the end or can another team snatch it away from them ???

We have a quick break (1 week) before Round 7 which is at the Pre-Nats in Puni on 7th March. Lets see how many of the 48 different riders (minus a couple of broken ones) that we can get to the final round and show everybody how big, successful and fast this class has become.
