Round 7 was held on Sunday 26th April at the Hamilton Warm Fuzzy meeting. The BMXNZ series final round was also held on this day so there was plenty of top level racing to watch. I would like to thank the Hamilton club for hosting this round. We had 23 riders this time which was a good showing considering the weather. This round was also the official unveiling of the JAFA race team, very easy to see on the track in their bright orange and great to see these guys bringing something different into our class (I guess the standard has been set). Congratulations to the 3 who made up the podium, Ritchie McLachlan 1st, Steve Schimanski 2nd & Boyd Nelson 3rd. That means the series ends with 5 finals to Ritchie & 2 to Steve. We also had another consolation final with Jason Powrie taking home the $20 for a 3rd week in a row, well done. Once the 4 moto’s & final were out of the way we had the Top 8 sorted who then had 1 more race to do to find the final placings for the series. Going into this race 1st & 2nd were sorted as were 6th, 7th & 8th. This left the other 3 spots being separated by only 3 points so it was all on. These 3 riders finished 2nd, 3rd & 4th in this last race so as you can see on the table below there was next to nothing in it. I would like to thank Cassidy Construction & Prime Finish Decorating for coming forward to sponsor the final of the series. We ended up with 39 different riders take part in the series as there were another 2 new riders who joined the series at this round. Check out the points table below to see where you ended up. I would like to thank all the riders who took part in the series this season, you all helped make it a great spectacle and something worth watching. Thanks also to all the sponsors that helped out during the season, without you the series wouldn’t go ahead. Good luck to those who are going to the Worlds in Adelaide, ride hard and fly the Kiwi flag high. To those who are going to Hawera for the Old School final, see you there.
